Amazon introduced two Bee devices on October 15 that use artificial intelligence to capture conversations and turn them into summaries, reminders and suggested tasks. The launch expands Amazon’s personal AI hardware business while putting privacy and consent at the center of the product.
Bee Frontier and Eclipse
The Bee Frontier is a wearable device that can be worn on the wrist or clipped to clothing. It costs $74.99 and includes dual microphones, IP67 water resistance and up to seven days of battery life, according to Amazon.
The $99.99 Bee Eclipse is a credit-card-sized device that attaches magnetically to the back of a phone. Amazon says it can run for more than 21 days on one charge. Both devices create conversation summaries, recaps and to-do lists through the Bee mobile and desktop apps.
Amazon adds AI shopping links
Beyond recording conversations, Bee can connect with Gmail, Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook. Amazon says the service can identify action items, draft follow-up emails and create calendar events. New connections to Alexa+ and Amazon.com let users ask Alexa for Bee summaries and receive shopping suggestions based on items mentioned in conversations.
Bee includes conversation summaries, recaps and 14 days of memory at no additional cost. The Bee Pro subscription costs $11.99 per month and adds unlimited summaries, third-party integrations, daily memories, suggested tasks, a personal chat assistant and the desktop application.
Privacy becomes central concern
Amazon says Bee processes audio in real time and deletes the raw recordings. It also says transcripts are encrypted with keys controlled by the user’s device, and that users can delete transcripts and summaries. A button and visible indicator light show when a Bee device is active. Amazon says call participants are prompted for permission before a recording begins.
Reuters reported that the devices are designed to listen throughout the day when activated. That makes privacy and consent central to the product. The launch places Amazon alongside other companies selling AI devices that observe daily activity instead of waiting for a typed request.
Personal AI market expands
The Bee Frontier is available now, while Amazon says the Bee Eclipse is coming soon. Together, the devices connect Amazon’s personal AI service with its shopping, assistant and productivity offerings.
