Apple Home Collection brings cameras, locks and thermostats into Apple Home

Apple is expanding beyond smart speakers and streaming boxes with Apple Home Collection, a lineup of cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, thermostats and temperature sensors. Developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the accessories are designed to work through Apple Home and Siri when they begin arriving in December.

Apple Home Collection arrives

The announcement gives Apple a broader challenge to Amazon Ring and Google Nest in connected-home security and climate control. Apple says the new products can be paired with an iPhone and managed through the Home app without separate companion apps or accounts.

The collection includes LG indoor and outdoor cameras, a floodlight camera, a dual-camera video doorbell and the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock. Apple says the cameras capture video at up to 2.5K resolution and can recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages. The indoor camera can tilt upward when household members return, making its privacy status more visible.

Cameras tie into iCloud+

Apple is using its existing subscription infrastructure rather than creating a separate camera service. Supported iCloud+ plans can store up to 10 days of event video history. On eligible plans, Apple Intelligence can create video descriptions and support natural-language searches on compatible devices.

Apple says camera footage and Home app data are end-to-end encrypted. The company says footage is processed locally on a home hub or through Private Cloud Compute and that Apple cannot access it. The cameras also include built-in storage intended to prevent detected moments from being missed during a network outage.

Lock and thermostats add control

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband to detect when an authorized person approaches with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. It also supports a keypad, a backup key slot, guest access through the Home app, Matter compatibility and Aliro. Apple says core access functions work locally even without an internet connection.

LG and Schneider Electric are offering separate smart thermostats. Apple’s Adaptive Temperature feature uses on-device intelligence from an iPhone to adjust settings based on whether people are home, leaving or preparing for sleep. In the contiguous United States, Apple says Clean Energy Guidance can shift heating and cooling toward cleaner or lower-cost periods for customers with compatible utility plans.

December launch faces limits

Apple Home Collection products will be sold through Apple’s online and retail stores beginning in December, with some accessories scheduled for early 2027. TechCrunch reported U.S. starting prices of $349.95 for the smart lock, $249.95 for the wired video doorbell and $399.95 for the floodlight camera.

The fullest experience depends on Apple hardware and services. Pairing requires an iPhone running the latest operating-system software, while camera history and some Apple Intelligence features require an eligible iCloud+ plan and a compatible home hub. Apple is also offering optional third-party installation through ADT in U.S. stores.
