Apple Puts Siri AI Inside the New Apple TV 4K

Apple unveiled a new $299 Apple TV 4K on October 13 that brings Siri AI into the living room, adding hands-free voice control, conversational content discovery and expanded smart-home functions. Preorders opened immediately, with store availability beginning November 13.

The device combines a streaming box with a home hub. Apple says it can help users find shows, answer questions about programs, control compatible accessories and display enhanced camera notifications in the Home app.

Siri AI reaches Apple TV

The new Apple TV 4K offers a full-screen Siri AI interface for searching shows, answering questions about programs and suggesting related content. Viewers can ask about award-winning series, request more recommendations or ask follow-up questions while watching without leaving the video experience.

With an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, Siri AI can use personal context for requests such as finding a show recommended by a contact. Apple says Siri AI is available in beta through tvOS 27.2 and that features, languages and regional availability vary.

A19 chip leads hardware refresh

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K uses Apple's A19 chip, which Apple says provides up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation. The chip also includes a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient high-quality streaming.

Three far-field microphones let users speak with Siri without holding the remote or using a paired HomePod. The updated Siri Remote adds Find My support, Precision Finding on compatible devices and an option to play a sound to help locate it.

November 13 rollout

Apple TV 4K is priced at $299 in the United States. Apple says it is available for preorder through its online store and Apple Store app in the United States and 29 other countries and regions, with store availability beginning Friday, November 13.

Siri AI will launch in English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Apple also says Siri AI access is available on Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onward, subject to software, language and device requirements.

Privacy limits cloud processing

Apple says Siri requests on Apple TV 4K can use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute. The company says data processed through Private Cloud Compute is neither stored nor accessible to Apple. The A19 chip also includes Secure Exclaves that isolate microphone data from the rest of the system.

As a home hub, the device can control compatible accessories, display doorbell notifications and provide Apple Intelligence-generated descriptions and summaries for supported HomeKit Secure Video cameras. Apple says some of those camera features require an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ plan.
