OpenAI is bringing its latest artificial intelligence models and Codex workflows to Google Cloud. The deal gives enterprise customers another way to access OpenAI technology while bringing competing AI models together on one cloud platform.
OpenAI models enter Model Garden
Google Cloud said GPT-Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out in private preview for selected enterprise customers through its Model Garden. Customers can also connect local Codex command-line and desktop workflows to Google Cloud for inference, the company said. Google Cloud added that more OpenAI services are coming.
Reuters reported that OpenAI models will also be available through Google Cloud Marketplace in the coming weeks. Customers will be able to use existing cloud spending commitments for those purchases, according to Reuters.
One platform, three model families
Google Cloud said it is the only hyperscale cloud provider offering access to the leading closed-source model families from Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI. Its platform also includes more than 200 first-party, third-party, and open models.
Reuters said the arrangement will let customers in regulated industries use OpenAI models with Google Cloud’s access controls, data governance tools, and infrastructure for agentic AI workflows.
OpenAI widens enterprise reach
Reuters reported that OpenAI has expanded distribution from Microsoft to Amazon Web Services and now Google Cloud. The company is using major cloud providers as sales channels while it seeks more enterprise customers.
The Google Cloud release is initially limited to private preview customers. Google Cloud said OpenAI models will later be available through Gemini for business and Google Antigravity, but it did not provide a broad public-release date.
