OpenAI Rolls Out GPT-6 With Interactive Answers in ChatGPT

OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT with a feature called Intelligent UI, which lets the service respond with interactive interfaces instead of only text. The global update is designed to make planning, learning and problem-solving more visual and useful.

OpenAI says GPT-6 can combine text, graphics and interactive elements such as charts, forms, tappable controls and diagrams. It can also create tools inside a conversation, including calculators, bill splitters and games. ChatGPT chooses the format based on the request and can still provide a conventional text answer when that is most useful.

What changes for ChatGPT users

GPT-6 can begin responding while it continues to think or use tools, then add more findings without requiring another prompt. OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant starts answering questions that require web search 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant in an internal evaluation. That statistic is an OpenAI-reported result and has not been independently verified.

The rollout began globally on October 7, 2026, for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users in the Chat tab. OpenAI said it would expand to Free and Go users beginning October 8. Enterprise access depends on workplace administrator settings. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise use GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna. The release does not change the models powering ChatGPT Work or Codex.

OpenAI’s support documentation says Intelligent UI is available with GPT-6 from Instant through Extra High reasoning levels. The Pro reasoning option uses GPT-6 Astra and does not support Intelligent UI. The feature is rolling out on the web and supported updated apps. Older ChatGPT desktop apps for macOS and Windows do not support it.

How to try Intelligent UI

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web or update a supported mobile app.
  2. Open the model menu and choose GPT-6 if it is available for your account. Rollout timing and plan restrictions may affect what appears.
  3. Ask for a visual explanation, comparison or task-specific tool. For example, request a retirement-savings calculator, an interactive explanation of a science topic or a side-by-side product comparison.
  4. Review the result and provide follow-up instructions to adjust the assumptions, layout or level of detail.

Users who prefer a more traditional presentation can turn off or reduce layout and visual elements in ChatGPT settings. OpenAI notes that some visual elements may still appear, and existing model, tool and plan limits continue to apply.

The significance of the release is the interface shift. ChatGPT can now generate temporary software experiences around a user’s request instead of requiring people to navigate a fixed application. That may make common tasks easier, while users should still check calculations, sources and other generated results before relying on them.
