Uber is rolling out OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work agent to more than 30,000 employees worldwide. The company is expanding an initial 1,000-person pilot into a company-wide deployment that gives teams access to an agent designed to handle complex, multi-step work.
ChatGPT Work reaches Uber
ChatGPT Work runs within ChatGPT Enterprise and is designed to complete tasks that require several steps. Uber says employees can use it to research information, prepare meeting briefs, create presentations, analyze data and complete workflows across applications. (OpenAI)
The rollout covers teams in operations, finance, marketing and product. Uber’s developers and software engineering teams will continue using OpenAI’s Codex for software development. Uber is also supporting the deployment with an internal AI skills library, approved integrations and employee training. (Uber)
Work tools become connected
To support that work, ChatGPT Work connects with Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack. Employees can use those connections to work with information in the tools they already use. OpenAI says GPT-6.1 Sol will be the default capability within ChatGPT Work. Uber will also have access to OpenAI’s multimodal capabilities, including voice and image generation. (OpenAI)
Results will shape adoption
Uber and OpenAI plan to share more information about adoption, use cases and measurable outcomes as the rollout progresses. The companies have not announced contract pricing or productivity results for the expanded deployment. (OpenAI)
The company-wide rollout makes ChatGPT Work available across Uber’s global workforce after the initial pilot. It also gives Uber and OpenAI a broader basis for tracking how employees use AI agents in daily business operations.
